Bishop John Visits St. Seraphim Memorial Church

On Saturday November 1, with the blessing of His Eminence Metropolitan Hilarion of Eastern America and New York, First Hierarch of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside Russia; the Administrator of the Patriarchal Parishes in the USA, His Grace Bishop John of Naro-Fominsk served the Divine Liturgy in St. Seraphim Memorial Church in Sea Cliff, NY.

On this day, all churches of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside Russia held celebrations marking the 50th Anniversary of the Glorification of St. John of Kronstadt by the ROCOR Synod of Bishops in 1964. 

His Grace was co-served by clerics of the Patriarchal Parishes in the USA and Eastern American Diocese. 

Available for veneration by the faithful was a Kamilavka belonging to St. John of Kronstadt given to the rector's family many years ago. 

The Divine Liturgy was sung by the St. Petersburg Men's Ensemble under the direction of Kiril Sokolov.After Holy Communion, Bishop John the clergy sang the magnification to St. John. Afterwards, His Grace delivered a sermon dedicated to the Saints' memory and legacy. At the conclusion of his sermon, the parish's rector Archpriest Seraphim Gan thanked Bishop John for his visit and in memory of the occasion and presented him with a set of liturgical aers and a commemorative book dedicated to the 60th Anniversary of St. Seraphim Memorial Church. 

At the conclusion of the Divine Services, all gathered in the parish's refectory for a festive trapeza during which the St. Petersburg Men's Ensemble preformed a concert.

Later in the day, at the invitation of its rector Archpriest Alexander Anchoutine, Bishop John visited the neighboring Holy Protection-St. Sergius Church in Glen Gove, NY.
