Bishop John Celebrates Divine Liturgy in Holy Dormition Church in Southampton

On Sunday December 15, with the blessing of His Eminence Archbishop Demetrios of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America and at the invitation of Protopresbyter Alexander Karloutsos, Rector; His Grace Bishop John of Naro-Fominsk, Administrator of the Patriarchal Parishes in the USA celebrated Divine Liturgy in Holy Dormition Church in Southampton NY.

The previous evening, Bishop John attended the Annual Tree-Lighting Ceremony and Christmas Concert put on by the parish Sunday School.

His Grace was co-served at the Liturgy by Archimandrite Nathanael (Symeonides), Director of the Office of Inter-Orthodox, Ecumenical and Interfaith Relations of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese; Priest Constantine Lazarakis, Parish Cleric; and clergy of the Russian Orthodox Church accompanying Bishop John.

The Divine Liturgy was sung by the "Saint Petersburg Mens Ensemble" under the direction of Kirill Sokolov. Many Russian-speaking believers flocked to the church especially on this day, to hear the Divine Liturgy preformed and sung in their native tone.

At the end of the Divine Liturgy, Bishop John delivered a sermon on the Gospel reading of the Sunday. Afterwards, he greeted Fr. Alexander and presented him with a carved icon of the Holy Mother of God.

Interaction between the hierarch and faithful continued in the parish hall, where the St. Petersburg Men's Ensemble preformed a concert.
