Paschal Reception Held in Consulate of the Russian Federation

On Bright Wednesday evening, April 15, the traditional Official Paschal Reception was held in the General Consulate of the Russian Federation in New York City at the invitation of the Consul General Igor L. Golubovsky and his spouse, Mrs. Tatiana V. Golubovskaya. This was the first Paschal reception to be held in the walls of the consulate after a lengthy capital renovation project.

His Grace Bishop John of Naro-Fominsk, Administrator of the Patriarchal Parishes in the USA and His Grace Bishop Nicholas of Manhattan participated in the reception. Also attending the reception were clergy of the Patriarchal Parishes in the USA, the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia, Greek and Antiochian Archdioceses as well as Consul Generals of numerous nations across Europe and Asia.

In his opening remarks, the Consul General spoke about the importance of the celebration of Pascha and how it is celebrated not just in the Russian Federation but across the nations of the former Soviet Union. Bishop John then warmly greeted all the assembled clergy and laity with the feast of the Resurrection of the Christ and thanked Igor Leonidovich for his hospitality. Bishop Nicholas of Manhattan also greeted those gathered and conveyed the greetings of His Eminence Metropolitan Hilarion of Eastern America and New York, First Hierarch of the Russian Church Abroad who is currently on an Archpastoral visit to Australia.

Afterwards, a small contingent of singers from the ROCOR Synodal Cathedral of the Sign, sang a number of hymns from the Paschal Matins and Divine Liturgy. Interaction then continued between all assembled during a bountiful Paschal meal prepared by the Consulate.
