On Sunday December 13, the 28th Sunday after Pentecost and the feast of the Holy Apostle Andrew the First-Called, the Administrator of the Patriarchal Parishes in the USA, His Grace Bishop John of Naro-Fominsk celebrated the Divine Liturgy in St. Andrew’s Cathedral in Philadelphia, PA.
His Grace was co-served by cathedral rector Archpriest Mark Shin; Eastern American Diocese Secretary Archpriest Serge Lukianov; Abbot Nicodemus (Balyasnikov, cleric of St. Nicholas Cathedral, NYC); Archpriest Boris Slootsky, cleric of St. Alexander Nevsky Cathedral, Lakewood NJ; Priest Eugene Solodky; Priest Alexander Tsygankov, parish cleric; Protodeacon Leonid Roschko, cleric of St. Alexander Nevsky Cathedral, Lakewood NJ and Deacon Mark Rashkov, cleric of St. Nicholas Cathedral, NYC.
The cathedral was visited by the Air Force Attaché of the Russian Embassy in the US, Colonel Roman Byhkalov and Deputy Naval Attaché of the Russian Embassy, Sergey Sadchikov.
After Holy Communion, the hierarch and clergy served a short moleben to St. Andrew concluding with a procession around the cathedral. At its conclusion, Fr. Mark thanked Bishop John for his visit and his prayers during the Divine Liturgy. Bishop John then, in turn, delivered a sermon to the faithful and congratulated them on their patronal feast day.
Afterwards, Fr. Mark gave Bishop John and the other honored guests a tour of the parish museum, as well as exhibitions commemorating the 70th Anniversary of Allied Victory during the Second World War.
