Annual Russian Festival Held at Holy Trinity Church in Baltimore, MD

On the weekend of October 20-22, the culmination of months of preparation on the part of the parishioners of Holy Trinity Church in Baltimore, MD finally occurred, as the parish held its 44th Annual Russian Festival. During this festive weekend, guests were invited to sample the many foods, purchase souvenirs and enjoy the many forms of entertainment.  All of the food – ranging from the hot dishes and breads to the many desserts – was prepared by parishioners.

Neighbors from all over Baltimore and beyond were in awe as they had an opportunity to step inside the temple.  Numerous dance ensembles came to perform for the festival-goers, including the parish's own dance troupe - "Romashki" (tr. Daisies). Every year, the organizers dedicate the festival to a particular saint who has shown forth, or served in North America. This year, St. Tikhon, Patriarch of Moscow and all Russia was chosen, commemorating the saint's service here in North America as well as the beginning of the tragic events occurring in Russia in 1917. Another important aspect of this year's festival was an important fundraising effort. As the church nears its centennial anniversary, much work is needed to clean and complete the fresco work in the historic church building.
