Patronal Feast Day of St. Demetrius Monastery

On Sunday, November 5, the 22nd Sunday after Pentecost, the Administrator of the Patriarchal Parishes in the USA, His Grace Bishop John of Naro-Fominsk led the Divine Liturgy in the Church of St. John of Shanghai and San Francisco in the Monastery of St. Demetrius of Thessalonica. With Bishop John's blessing, the celebration of the monastery's patronal feastday was transferred to the Sunday. His Grace was co-served by monastery clergy.

At the conclusion of the Liturgy, Bishop John congratulated acting monastery abbot, Hieromonk Savvatey (Ageyev), brethren and parishioners with the first patronal feastday of the revitalized monastery of the Patriarchal Parishes in the USA. Bishop John presented the monastery with an icon of St. Gabriel of Athos with a piece of his relics as well as a book detailing the saint's life. Bishop John also congratulated benefactors Olga Vasilenko and Valery Bildey with an Archpastoral gramota.

Interaction between Bishop John, clergy and parishioners continued over a festive luncheon.
