His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia expressed his condolences to President of the United States, Donald Trump in connection with the tragedy at the high school in Parkland, Florida. On February 14, 2018, a teenager previously expelled from school for violating discipline, entered the school and opened fire on students. 17 people perished including students and teachers while another 14 were hospitalized.

Your Excellency, dear Mr. President!

There was pain in my heart as I learned the sad news of the terrible crime committed in Florida, in which children were killed and injured.

I express my sincere condolences to you, to the parents who lost their children and to all the relatives and friends of the victims of the tragedy.

In these sorrowful days I pray to the Lord that He strengthen those who were affected by this tragedy, that He give courage and strength with dignity, to withstand the difficult trials that has come upon them.
