Bishop John Leads Panihida for Victims of Kemerovo Fire

On Tuesday March 27, the feast of the Theodore Icon of the Most Holy Theotokos, His Grace Bishop John of Naro-Fominsk, Administrator of the Patriarchal Parishes in the USA, celebrated Matins and the Liturgy of Presanctified Gifts in St. Nicholas Cathedral in New York City.  His Grace was co-served by cathedral clergy.

At the conclusion of the Liturgy, Bishop John led a panihida for the victims of the deadly fire at a shopping mall in Kemerovo, Russia which claimed the lives of 64 people, many of whom were children. At the direction of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and all Russia, all churches of the Russian Orthodox Church have been directed to serve a panihida on this date for the reposed.

A panihida will be served in Three Saints Church in Garfield NJ, at 7:00pm (March 27) for the victims of the Kemerovo fire. 

A catastrophic blaze broke out on the top floor of the Zimnyaya Vishnya (or Winter Cherry) four-story shopping mall in the Siberian city of Kemerovo on March 25, which eventually engulfed an area of 1,500 square meters. According to recent reports, the blaze killed 64 people in all, while more than 60 injured requested medical assistance. - TASS News Agency
