On November 11-12, the clergy and parishioners of St. Nicholas Church in Brookside, AL bade farewell to their beloved longtime rector, Archpriest Benedict Tallant who reposed in the Lord on November 7. On Wednesday evening, the Office for the Burial of Priests was served by Dean Emeritus of the Central States, Archpriest Roman Star co-served by parish rector and son-in-law of the newly-departed, Priest Paul Davis as well as local clergy from neighboring parishes. 

On Thursday morning, November 12, Divine Liturgy was celebrated by Fr. Roman and guest clergy. Following sanitary protocols, the church was filled with family parishioners wishing to express their prayers for their beloved pastor. At the conclusion of the Liturgy, Archpriest Andrei Kovalev (rector of St. Gregory the Theologian Church in Tampa, FL) read a letter of condolences from the Interim Administrator of the Patriarchal Parishes in the USA, Bishop Matthew of Sourozh.
