The history of the parishes is preceded by a greeting from the Interim Administrator of the Patriarchal Parishes in the USA & Canada, Bishop Matthew of Sourozh:

To the President of the foundation “Heritage”, member of the Committee for the Preservation of the Russian Cultural and Historical Heritage at the Congress of Compatriots in the United States A.N. Molodin

Dear Alexander Vladimirovich!

I have read with great interest your monograph dedicated to the preservation of the spiritual and cultural heritage of Russian Orthodoxy in the United States of America, captured in historical and architectural monuments.

It is gratifying to note that at present the topic under consideration continues to arouse keen interest not only among Orthodox compatriots, but is also becoming more and more popular among those who are just beginning to discover the original unique heritage of the Russian Orthodox Church. Being the same age as the statehood of the United States, Russian Orthodoxy on the North American continent, through the efforts of its missionaries, made a significant contribution to the formation of many aspects of the life of the peoples of America, hospitably opened its arms to Orthodox fellow believers from various countries, for which the United States became a second homeland.

Having gone through all the trials of the 20th century with its flock, the Russian Orthodox Church has preserved its spiritual heritage in North America, which today is carefully preserved and multiplied in the parishes and monasteries of the autocephalous Orthodox Church in America, in the Patriarchal Parishes of the Russian Orthodox Church in the USA and in the Russian Church Abroad.

I express my sincere gratitude and deep gratitude for the fact that in your research you paid special attention to the history and architectural features of the selected churches of all the above jurisdictions, for the clergy and laity of which 2020 is marked by many anniversaries and memorable events - the 225th anniversary of the beginning of the mission of Venerable Herman of Alaska, the 50th anniversary of the autocephaly of the Orthodox Church in America and the formation of Patriarchal Parishes in the USA & Canada, as well as the 100th anniversary of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia.

I call upon you and all those who labored to publish the book "Orthodox Domes of America" the blessing of God and prayerfully wish this work to serve as a fascinating guide for its readers to the wonderful and wonderful world of Russian Orthodoxy in North America.
