On July 11, the chairman of the Department for External Church Relations of the Moscow Patriarchate, Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, met with His Beatitude Archbishop Tikhon of Washington, Metropolitan of All America and Canada.
The meeting took place after the Divine Liturgy at St. Nicholas Patriarchal Cathedral, during which the DECR chairman concelebrated with the Primate of the Orthodox Church in America.
During the conversation, a wide range of issues related to the development of interaction between the Russian Orthodox Church and the Orthodox Church in America, as well as topics in the field of inter-Orthodox relations. The parties exchanged information on how the Church met the challenge of the coronavirus pandemic in Russia and in other countries of the canonical territory of the Moscow Patriarchate, as well as in America and Canada.
At the end of the meeting, Metropolitan Hilarion congratulated His Beatitude Metropolitan Tikhon on his 55th birthday and wished him God's help in carrying out his primatial ministry.
