On November 26, Priest Joshua Genig (Dean of the Central States) made a visit to St. John Chrysostom parish in Grand Rapids, MI for their patronal feast.
Following the communion of the clergy, Fr. Joshua offered a homily on the example of St. John Chrysostom, the Golden-Mouth, and the way we become like him in receiving the Eucharist. Prior to the Dismissal, the faithful processed around the holy temple and asked for God’s mercy on the faithful founders and benefactors of the parish who have gone to their rest over the past 100+ years.
Fr. Joshua was co-served by Priest James Anthony (parish rector), Deacon Michael Cook (parish cleric), Hierodeacon Seraphim (Balagtas; cleric of St. Innocent Church), as well as a number of servers. In concluding the festive Liturgy, Fr. James thanked Father Joshua for bringing the blessing of His Grace Bishop Matthew to the faithful in Grand Rapids and assured Fr. Joshua of their prayers for the entire Russian Orthodox Church. Following the Liturgy, the clergy and members of the parish council enjoyed a wonderful, celebratory lunch
