Central States Dean visits St. Michael Church

On Saturday, March 15, Priest Joshua Genig (dean of the Central States) made a visit to St. Michael the Archangel Church in Redford, MI. During his visit, Fr. Joshua celebrated Divine Liturgy for Parental Saturday. Concelebrating with the dean were Archpriest Timothy Barna (parish rector), Deacon Daniel Woytowich (parish cleric) and visiting cleric, Deacon David Rehn. Archpriest Roman Star (dean Emeritus) prayed in the altar and received Christ’s Holy Mysteries. Prior to the beginning of the Divine Liturgy, Fr. Joshua gifted Fr. Roman with a jeweled cross from Jerusalem in gratitude for his many years of service to the deanery and the Moscow Patriarchate.

In addition to the parish choir, several parishioners came to pray and receive the Mysteries on this Soul Saturday. Following the Divine Liturgy, Fr. Timothy introduced Fr. Joshua and thanked him for his visit. Fr. Joshua offered a brief homily on the necessity of praying for the departed, noting that offering the Divine Liturgy is the most loving thing we can do for them.

All those present were blessed and strengthened in their Lenten journey by this fraternal celebration of the Divine Liturgy.
