On feast of St. Spyridon of Tremithus, Bishop Matthew celebrated Liturgy and Sacrament of Unction in St. Nicholas Cathedral

On December 25, 2025, the feast of Saint Spyridon, Bishop of Tremithus, the Wonderworker, Bishop Matthew of Sourozh, Interim Administrator of the Patriarchal Parishes in the USA & Canada, celebrated the Divine Liturgy in Saint Nicholas Patriarchal Cathedral in New York, along with cathedral clergy.

Following the prayer after the communion, a glorification of Saint Spyridon was performed in the center of the church.

Following the divine service, the Archpastor addressed those present with a sermon dedicated to the memory of the saint.

After prayers of thanksgiving after Holy Communion, Bishop Matthew celebrated the Sacrament of Unction for the parishioners of the cathedral. Having congratulated the faithful on receiving the healing grace of the great Sacrament, the Archpastor thanked everyone for the joy of their shared prayer and wished them God's help in worthy completion of the Nativity Fast and the celebration of the Nativity of Christ.

That evening, His Grace Bishop Matthew, accompanied by his personal secretary, N.V. Trubnikov, departed for London. At John F. Kennedy International Airport, His Grace was seen off by Hegumen Nikodim (Balyasnikov), Acting Chancellor of the Patriarchal Parishes in the United States, and Priest Mark Rashkov, Head of the Chancery.
